Thoughts of Note
Welcome to this collection of playing ideas
to ponder, written for
anyone who plays music. In addition to Today's
Thought, you can peruse the Glossary
for terminology, much of it related to hammered dulcimer and autoharp, as you need
it.
The most popular Thought connected to
this page describes preparation tips for competition, which you can go to by clicking here.

To see another thought of note posted
on Alice Parker's (my choral-music mentor's) web site, click here.
Once there, scroll down to her editorial titled "Listening
Differently." (If my scroll bar is any indication, you'll find this
article a little more than halfway down the page.)
My own thoughts have expanded into
why dulcimer and autoharp players hurt, and you'll find a page at this site
devoted to eradicating stress, discomfort or downright pain. Click here to go to
that page.
And for diatonic autoharpists:
In August, 2002, I began a column for Autoharp Quarterly
called "The Diatonic Corner."
Four times a year, diatonic AQ subscribers get a mini-lesson devoted to relevant
"pumping felt" and chording
strategies in tunes I find from all over. (Readers are welcome to for "dissection" and discussion as well.) Since the first
installment, the articles list has grown to include a variety of topics. And
growth continues! To see what's what, subscribe to Autoharp Quarterly
to see the articles and more!

The MIDI files in the last column below comprise only those columns published in
the last 5 issues Autoharp Quarterly. (If you missed one from an earlier column and
would like to hear the MIDI file, .) All files are the melodies only, generated in music
software. (
if the audio files--and the column, for that matter--are helpful, too;
your feedback helps me to help you.) To stay current with what's coming up
next, subscribe to
AQ today! |
